1) Eligibility

  • You must be aged 16 or over on the day of the course.
  • You must have a PPS Number (ROI) or NI Number (Northern Ireland).

2) What to bring on the day

  • One current passport-sized colour photograph.
  • Valid photo ID: passport, driver’s licence, or Public Services Card.
  • Your PPS (or NI) number.
  • Important: If you arrive without your PPS/NI number or the required passport photo, your application cannot be processed.

3) Language requirements

  • All courses are delivered in English; fluent English is required to participate and complete assessments safely.
  • If you’re unsure about your English proficiency, please phone us before booking.

4) Attendance, punctuality and conduct

  • Please arrive in good time. Late arrivals cannot be admitted and will forfeit the course fee.
  • No refunds are issued for no-shows or late arrivals.
  • Participants must follow tutor instructions and venue safety rules at all times.

5) Cancellations, transfers and refunds

  • Cancellations or transfer requests must be made at least 48 hours before your course start time.
  • Cancellations within 48 hours, late arrivals, or no-shows are non-refundable.
  • Transfers are subject to availability and adherence to the same notice period.

6) Provider cancellation or changes

  • We may cancel or reschedule a course at short notice (e.g., low numbers, venue issues, or non-conformance with SOLAS requirements).
  • If we cancel, you will be offered a free reschedule or a full refund of the course fee.

7) Certification and Safe Pass Card (SOLAS Safe Pass)

  • SOLAS issues the Safe Pass Card to the tutor, typically about five working days after upload. Delays may occur where there are errors or queries on the application.
  • Safe Pass cards are valid for four years; a new card is issued upon successful completion of a renewal course.

8) Personal details and data accuracy

  • Your full legal name, date of birth and PPSN/NI number must match SOLAS records for a card to be issued.
  • If details do not match the SOLAS database, a card cannot be issued until the information is corrected. It is the participant’s responsibility to provide accurate details on the SOLAS Safe Pass application form.
  • Personal data is handled in line with SOLAS processes and applicable data protection law.

9) Lost, missing or replacement cards

  • Once cards are issued and dispatched by SOLAS/the designated printer and provided to the learner, SIE Safety Training Ltd is not responsible for loss, delays or issues in the post.

10) Special assistance

  • If you have learning needs or require reasonable accommodations, please contact us in advance. We’ll advise on available options and the SOLAS process.
  • Where translated or interpreter-supported courses are required, please liaise with SOLAS for approved arrangements.

11) Payment terms

  • Course fees are payable at booking unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Your fee includes the training and the administration of the SOLAS Safe Pass Registration Card per SOLAS programme arrangements.
